Monitoring

Availability, response time, certificates, DNS and header change detection.

Webforta Monitor sends an HTTPS GET request to your homepage at the interval you choose and records the status code and response time.

Status rules

  • Up: a response with status below 400 within the slow-response threshold.
  • Degraded: a 4xx response or a response slower than the threshold.
  • Down: no response, a network or TLS error, or a 5xx response, for the configured number of consecutive checks (default 2).
  • Recovery: the first successful check after being down. Webforta sends a recovery alert and closes the incident.

Intervals

The minimum interval depends on your plan (Starter 30 minutes, Pro 10 minutes, Business 5 minutes). Checks are dispatched by a scheduler that runs every 5 minutes, so the actual spacing between checks can vary by a few minutes. Monitoring runs from Cloudflare’s network and is not a multi-region probe network.

Change detection

  • Security headers are compared on every successful check; changes create an incident and an alert.
  • DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, CAA) are snapshotted at most hourly and compared.
  • Certificate expiry is checked daily from Certificate Transparency logs; you are warned when it falls within your threshold.

Keyword check

Optionally, the homepage must contain a piece of text (for example "Add to cart" or your company name), or must NOT contain one (for example "Error establishing a database connection"). A check that fails it counts as down, so error pages that still answer 200 and defacements raise an incident like an outage. Matching is case-insensitive, works on the visible text and the raw HTML, and covers the first 256 KB of the page.

Domain expiry

About once a day Webforta looks up each verified website's domain registration over RDAP (the registries' structured successor to WHOIS) and shows the expiry date and registrar on the website overview and in reports. You are alerted 30, 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before expiry, and if it lapses. Some registries (several country-code domains) do not publish expiry dates; Webforta then says so instead of guessing. Sites on shared platform domains (for example pages.dev or github.io) have no registration of their own to track.

Public status page

Each website can have an opt-in public status page (Monitoring tab > Public status page): its current state, uptime over 24 hours, 7, 30 and 90 days, a 90-day daily chart and recent outages, all from Webforta's own checks. Nothing else about the site is shown. The link is random, so it cannot be found from the hostname; "New link" replaces it and "Turn off" removes it. An uptime badge for a README or footer is at the page address plus /badge.svg. Pages are refreshed at most once a minute and are not indexed by search engines.
