Wordfence has announced that pricing for its Wordfence Premium, Care and Response products will increase on Thursday, December 3, 2026. The company published the notice on November 3, 2026, about a month before the change takes effect.
This is a pricing announcement, not a security vulnerability. It matters to WordPress site owners, agencies and hosting administrators who hold Wordfence licenses and want to decide whether to renew early or review their budget.
What Wordfence announced
According to the Wordfence announcement, prices for Premium, Care and Response will rise on December 3, 2026. The company says it is giving a month of notice so customers have time to buy new licenses or renew eligible subscriptions at current pricing.
Wordfence also states that existing licenses can be renewed up to one year before their expiration dates, and that purchases or renewals made before December 3 get the current pricing.
What the announcement does not say
The notice we reviewed does not give the new prices, the size of the increase, or a list of which subscriptions count as eligible. Only one publisher, Wordfence itself, covers this so far, so there is no independent confirmation of the details. Check your Wordfence account or the vendor's pricing page for exact figures before you decide.
Who is affected
- Site owners with a paid Wordfence Premium, Care or Response license.
- Agencies and hosting providers that manage many licenses across client sites.
- Anyone planning to buy a new license in the coming weeks.
- Free plugin users are not mentioned in the announcement, which refers only to the three paid products.
How to plan your renewals
Because the stated rule allows renewal up to a year ahead, the practical question is whether early renewal makes sense for your budget and cash flow. Treat the following as general planning advice, not vendor guidance.
- List every site that uses a paid Wordfence product and note the product and expiration date for each.
- Open your Wordfence account and confirm which of those licenses are eligible for early renewal.
- Ask the vendor or check the account for the new pricing so you can compare the cost of renewing now against waiting.
- Decide which renewals to bring forward, and which new licenses to buy, before December 3, 2026.
- Update your internal budget and any client quotes that include Wordfence costs.

If you manage WordPress sites, you can list installed plugins and their versions with a standard WP-CLI command. Run it on the server from the site's directory, and look for the Wordfence entry and its version and update status.

A lapsed paid license is easy to miss, and a security tool that is out of date or unlicensed may not give you the protection you expect. Whatever you choose, make sure the cost decision does not leave a site without monitoring or protection.
No single plugin makes a site fully secure. Layers help: timely updates, strong admin credentials, backups, and outside checks. Webforta offers a free malware scanner and monitoring for uptime, certificates and DNS, and our WordPress security checklist covers the basics that apply regardless of which plugin you use.
